I am so glad you're here. My name is Katie Andrews Potter, and I am the creator of Storybook Ancestor.
I am an author, educator, and family historian from Indianapolis, Indiana. I am a 9th generation Hoosier, and am married to Ben, another 9th generation Hoosier. So our kids, Ellie and Micah (and one on the way!) are 10th generation Hoosiers with plenty of family history at their fingertips, and our family can usually be found somewhere in Indiana exploring.
I have a degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University, and I have also done graduate work in History. Over the years, I have worked in Special Education and ABA Therapy. Currently, I homeschool our children, and teach English with VIPKID. I create history-themed educational products for my Teachers Pay Teachers store, and of course: I write!, and with my children's book, I visit local libraries, schools, museums, and bookstores.
I love animals, I love to hike, and I love Jesus. I write in local coffee shops that have a history, or in the office of our 115 year old house, which is of course filled to the brim with old family photos and family heirlooms that have been passed down to me.
So, what exactly is Storybook Ancestor?
It is all of the above: history, genealogy, writing, stories, and art - and bringing of these beautiful things together for today's children.
Storybook Ancestor is for ALL kids. All kids from all different kinds of families and backgrounds, cultures, and faiths. Every family is special and unique and we want to celebrate that here.
